If everyone lived "with our future in mind", do you think that we would live differently? (different habits, behaviors, etc)
Being concerned about your health is also a part of your physical and mental wellness. If all people in our society would think about the negative consequences that their unhealthy behaviors bring, then today, our society would be living under a different environment. We all should know the fact that our good health is an outcome of our healthy choices that we make in our daily lifestyles wheather it's associated with the dietary suppliments or exercise.Just imagine how many people die from lung cancer each year related to smoking habits? Today, people are involved in more careless behaviors in the name of modern lifestyle. For an example; people are consuming more fast foods than ever.School children have a negative influence of smoking habit. Some people have started smoking because they think it is a part of their personality. So, it's obvious that people are following unhealthy behaviors even if these behaviors are reducing the quality of their health. However, these unhealthy behaviors could be changed into something good habits which will increase the quality of their life. Many people do not realize that they are associated with bad habits untill and unless they get negative outcomes such as diseases. If people would be ready to change their smoking habits, millions of people would be saved from lung cancers,if people would be ready to quit unnecessary junk foods, people would be saving both money and health .Healthy people means a healthy society, and a healthy nation. So,if people would practice healthy behaviors, our society would face less problems related to diseases, government have to spend less on medicare and health related problems. So, a key factor to a healthy environment and a nation is the healthy behaviors that people will follow. The more healthy behaviors that we follow, the more benefits we will get associated with the health.

While you are very right about being healthy depends on leading a healthy lifestyle, it also depends on environment and heredity. Although I try very hard to lead a healthy lifestyle, it can be very difficult to manage every aspect at all times. When my kids were small, it was much easier to drive through a fast food restaurant to get dinner after I got off of work and on the way to pick them up to take them to soccer practice or softball practice or whatever the season it may have been. So I ask, which is worse, leading a sedentary lifestyle and eating healthy or leading a very active lifestyle and compromise with fast food 2 or 3 nights of the week? They would still get a healthy breakfast and lunch, but dinner was often sacrificed. I’m not sure that our lifestyle back then was right, but it was, and I wouldn’t change it for anything. Now that they are all grown, I miss those days and they still are healthy young ladies. We do what we can do, but you are certainly right about unhealthy behaviors being negative consequences.
ReplyDeleteYou have demonstrated the strong connection between healthy behaviors brings healthy outcomes and unhealthy behaviors bring unhealthy outcomes. As basic and obvious as that is, it seems that this connection is either not understood or accepted. Something else must be at work to cause otherwise rational people to behave irrationally. Perhaps peer pressure or denial (It won’t happen to me). There is a root cause underlying people’s unhealthy behavior. Find THAT root cause and you will win the Noble Peace Prize! Great job!
